Wow! It is hard to believe that we are already into June! The farm is steadily getting into its groove as new student and apprentice staff are trained on the ins and outs of the Dickinson College Farm; there is a lot to learn! One area that I oversee is the farm's pizza and vegetable stand at Farmers on the Square. This year, apprentices Jamie Taylor and Sara Chester will be the farm's market managers. This means training sessions learning how to roll dough into (almost) perfect circles, hauling a fully loaded truck plus our pizza oven to Carlisle, baking in high temps without burning any pies, navigating customer needs, and working hard to bring an empty truck back to the farm each Wednesday. This is no small feat! Jamie and Sara, with summer support from Audree Khalishah, the farm's Education & Outreach Coordinator are off to a strong start - as is the market as a whole! Pretty soon Jamie and Sara will be slinging pies and sharing the bounties of the College Farm with eager community members. Food is a wonderful connector!!
We hope that your CSA experience with the College Farm is also off to a strong start! We are grateful for your enduring support and aim to do our best to provide you with delicious veggies. If you ever get the urge, feel free to take a walk at the farm to see where your CSA vegetables grow, along with the many hands that help them every step of the way.
