What’s in the Box?

Have you tried our spicy mesclun mix?  It’s prime right now, and not very spicy at all- just funky and mustard-y and delicious.

We are short on arugula this week, but our first field planting will be ready for week 8 and we’ll have tons, likely for the rest of the season.

The rhubarb is bursting and we picked our first asparagus.  There is limited asparagus this week as it starts slowly but we pick every day, sometimes twice a day and there should be lots coming over the next 7 weeks.

There’s lots of variety coming ready in a week or so including dill, green onions, butterhead lettuce.

On the Farm
What a week!  We were all buoyed by the sunshine and generally delighted to be doing all the farming things in shorts and tees instead of rain slickers and long underwear.

The big accomplishment for the week: we finally re-skinned our naked greenhouse!  It’s always a bit nerve wracking as the plastic is gigantic and acts like a sail in the tiniest bit of wind.  Luckily the morning stayed calm and we got it done.  Phew.

We also planted our first round of green beans, zucchini, and basil (all in covered spaces, don’t put yours out yet!), planted more tomatoes, and seeded our watermelons and winter squash (in the greenhouse).
My second round of snap peas got eaten by something, so I’m putting in a hail Mary few rows today.  I know y’all love sweet peas and here’s hoping the season isn’t too short on them.

Our resident artist, the lovely Autumn Ducharme, painted us some farm share pick-up signs and a welcome sign.  She makes the farm more magical with every piece (and with her shining personality).  Thanks Autumn!

That's it for now, happy eating until next time.
