Hurricane Zeta was still a roaring Tropical Storm as it made its way through Alabama Wednesday evening and into the early hours of Thursday. We prepared as much as we could for the possible wind gust of up to 70 MPH and made many prayers for our little community and all it would effect inland. The wind and rain sounded like a freight train for hours and we braced ourselves for what we might see at first light. Mother Nature is a powerful force and very humbling when you see the damage left after one of these storms. We were very fortunate that we somehow did not lose power and no damage to our 100 year old house, we were safe. However the farm area was hit hard. The wind ripped through one of our high tunnels, large trees toppled over, plants damaged from heavy rain and laying over from wind. We are still accessing the damage and clean up has begun.
Because of this we will be postponing next weeks CSA delivery. We ask for your patients and understanding as we take next week to continue clean up and regroup. We will send you all a update mid week.
Thank you to all who have reached out to us, your kindness and words of encouragement have been greatly appreciated. We know many in our local area have also been effected by Zeta and we send out thoughts and prayers that all are safe.
Sincerely,
Jim and Sheila Dicks
