It dipped below 50 very early this morning so Im pretty sure it is official Fall in Zone 8 of Alabama and we couldn't be happier!
This means it's time to finally harvest and pull the last of those lingering summer plants like peppers. So pull out your stuffed pepper or other favorite pepper recipies.
This time of year also means winter fruit like citrus and one of my favorites persimmons! We are headed to Petals of The Past in Chilton County on Tuesday to get persimmons that will be in shares this week. If you haven't set your preferences on persimmons, now is the time to do so because they are so delicious!
Of course we can't farm without talking about insects even in the Fall and the aphids have been making their debut! This is a very frustrating insect to combat because it multiplies very rapidly and because of its waxy exterior it is not fazed by many organic insecticides! We have had some crop loss especially the baby cabbage but hopefully the cooler weather will help.
Many blessing to you all and hope you have a safe and happy week!
