When farmers get together we always ask each other about the weather. It's not just a conversation starter - it's of huge importance. "Did you get the rain storm, or did you miss the hail? How are your crops doing with the rain, sun, wind (insert weather phenomenon of your choice)?" As farmers we try to manage so many fine details, make plans for so many contingencies but in the end the weather drives the process.
So far this year the weather has favored us. We have been able to get a lot of crops in the ground, grown and harvested. As the heat keep building, we are moving out of our Spring crops and shifting our focus towards our Summer and Fall abundance. Over the next few weeks our CSA and availability will be put to the test by weather events, time and decisions made months ago. This is farming at it's purest.
As you see from the photo above, our beautiful summer crops are starting to flourish in the heat. Soon we will have summer squash, cucumbers, fennel, beets and carrots. The next 4-6 weeks will be exciting to say the least.
Thank you for being a part of the farm. We could not manage this process without our members who help shape our decisions and work.
