Week 17 CSA - Fall Crops and a Honey Sale

Posted on October 4th, 2024 by Michael Moss

View from the Tractor

Week 17 of the CSA is normally quite chilly with a sprinkling of frost, but not this year. We have been sweating away under the golden Autumn sun as we are harvesting and clearing the fields. The summer crops are coming to a close but we are still picking the last of the beautiful peppers. We are also harvesting more fall crops and hope to have an abundance of broccoli for our last CSA next week. With this heat we are also hoping to have plenty of Napa cabbage, carrots, radicchio and maybe a little bit of cauliflower.

This week we will have a few new fall items including our leeks, an amazing potato medley, head lettuce, and spaghetti squash. At times the spring CSA shares feel light, but fall shares are so abundant with many flavors, colors and heft.

As we are coming to the end of the season, now is a great time to use any credits you may have in your account. Please reach out if you have any questions about using your credits. It is also a perfect time to load up on storage crops like the squash, garlic and the potatoes.

With deepest gratitude,

Michael and the Farmers at Kilt Farm

Fruit

We have finished our Fruit Share for the season. If you need fruit we will keep a good selection for the next two weeks. This week we will have Honeycrisp apples, Johnagold apples and Bartlett pears. You can add these when you customize your share.

Honey Sale - End of Season

The honey from our farm is amazing. These are the Bee Keeper's most productive hives as we have kept flowers going all season long. We have quite a bit of honey left from this season so we have put it on sale. Now is the time to get some stashed in the pantry. Nothing better than tasting sunshine in the dead of winter.

Thank you so much for being a member of the farm. We can't do it with out you.
