The 2024 season comes to a close.

View from the Tractor

Here we are at the end of the 2024 CSA season. It seems like our start in February was ages ago but the season has gone by so quickly. When I zoom out a little bit and see the whole of my farming journey spanning nearly 15 years, it seems more like a lifetime. I started this journey to improve the access to high quality food in Steamboat Springs in 2008 and now we’ve really grown to a point where we are sending our food all over the Front Range and throughout Boulder County. This year we had nearly 350 members in our CSA and I have seen the children of our members grow up eating our food. It fills me with great pride when I step back from the day to day struggles to see what we have created and what can be done with seeds, sunlight, water, work and a community.

The 2024 season and this extended summer weather has allowed us to grow some amazing food. I hope that I have also helped the staff here at the farm learn and grow in life and in farming. More importantly it is my wish that there have been many amazing meals shared in your kitchens with all of the people that you love.

Over the next few weeks we will finish the farm season by cleaning up the fields, seeding the cover crop, putting away the tools, doing the accounting, and taking a good extended rest. After a long, long soak in a hot spring, I will look at what the future holds for Kilt Farm.

Thank you so much for your support over the good years and the bad years. I deeply appreciate the trust you placed in my team and I to feed your families. This means the world to me.

With gratitude,

Michael and the Farmers at Kilt Farm

Message from Asud our CSA Manager

With the last week of CSA upon us and a few farewells already shared, it finally feels like the end of the season. This week alone, our team has packed up the greenhouse, pulled plastic, flipped beds, and have ceased harvest on many season staples.

Now as I reflect on my time here, I think my favorite part about farming is seeing the weeks of labor, love, and care manifest as a box of color that we share with our community week after week. It has been my pleasure to deliver food to you and your family, and a particular delight to get to know many of you as well.

The strength of small scale local agriculture is its inherent connection to the community. Your support made it possible for us to do what we love, to care for this land, and to feed our family, friends, and neighbors. Thank you for this opportunity.

With immense gratitude,

Asud Shirazi

Fruit

This week we will have Honeycrisp apples and Johnagold apples. You can add these when you customize your share.

Honey Sale - End of Season

The honey from our farm is amazing. These are the Bee Keeper's most productive hives as we have kept flowers going all season long. We have quite a bit of honey left from this season so we have put it on sale. Now is the time to get some stashed in the pantry. Nothing better than tasting sunshine in the dead of winter.

Thank you so much for being a member of the farm. We can't do it with out you.
