Happy Thanksgiving! I hope that despite the challenges of this year, you are able to enjoy a good meal and celebrate the blessings in your life this coming weekend.
While harvesting on Monday, I found this snake, curled up under a plant, waiting for the sun to warm things up. I consider this snake a blessing. Why, you ask? Because the presence of a snake in our garden shows that we can grow food while sharing this land with many other creatures. Some of the other creatures we have spotted in the field this summer include monarch butterflies, toads, frogs, flying squirrels, blue heron, rabbits, deer, and hawks. It's not nature or people -- we can co-exist because humans are simply one part of the bigger web.
