Oskar and I just returned from the 10th Annual EFAO (Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario) Conference. The theme was watersheds. And I think it was a watershed moment for us, in that it was an opportunity to reflect on what we are doing from a different perspective and with a beautiful community of people.
The second day of the conference was opened by a the Strong Water Singers, a group of women that sing together weekly and reminded us to give thanks to Mother Earth. They were followed by a small group of passionate youth from Serpent River First Nation who are reconnecting with their waterways. They shared a short video of wild rice being reseeded on their territories and the underwater images of the rice kernels swimming downward through the water was magical!
The conference sessions were wide ranging, from managing soil fertility and cover crops, to seed saving, infrastructure for pastured pigs, managing conflict on teams and more. The attendees were also a very diverse group of people and I think this was one of the most beautiful aspects of the conference.
Practically, this coming week we have lovely carrots, onions, and more. Check it out! We'll be delivering on Friday. Thought you placed an order in weeks past and then didn't get one? Don't forget to check out. Once you've placed items in your cart, look for the shopping cart icon in the top, right hand corner of your screen. Click on it and it will take you to the checkout. If you don't get a confirmation email, your order hasn't been placed. Be in touch if you have any questions or problems.
And don't forget, you can order lamb now, for delivery before Christmas. We have 10lb bundles, halves and whole lamb available. More details and the order form are here.
I hope your December brings beautiful moments shared with people that inspire you.
