Hello Farmshare members!
Welcome to the farmshare season, we are excited to get started harvesting for ya'll! Each week you will get an email with some info about products you might find in your share (depending on your preferences, crop readiness, and availability) as well as a brief update on what’s happening back on the farm. From here, you can go ahead and customize your box by swapping products and adding extra goodies!
These past months have been filled with non-stop planting, seeding, irrigation and weeding. The fields are filling up with little baby plants everywhere we look! We have some new crew mates and many returning crew mates; everyone busily moving from task to task. Hannah and Sallie are planting and tending the seedlings in the greenhouse and Danielle is pushing the seeder back and forth through the beds pushing millions of tiny little seeds into the ground. Ryan has been preparing the beds in the field for both vegetable crops and cover crops. Charlie's out making compost. Crew's been out weeding, transplanting, harvesting for farmers market, vending at markets, jarring sauerkraut, tending to the animals, generally having a good time.
This time of year is all about the mineral rich spring greens. Salads, soups, stir fries- greens in all forms. Lettuce, arugula, mizuna, mustards, kales, spinach are all favorites around here. Also special at this time of year are the garlic scapes (these are amazing and are only available for a few weeks every spring) and of course, strawberries. Since we don't have enough strawberries for everyone (sad, we know) we will be making strawberries available as a swappable item, making it fair game to anyone who wants them and gets to it before they "sell out" (they will go fast, so if you really want them start begin customizing your share ASAP!).
We are so very grateful for every one of you for being an essential part of our farm. A HUGE thank you to all of you who have been with us for multiple years! And to those of you who are trying this out for the first time, welcome and thanks for diving in and supporting us for an entire season of delicious nourishing produce!
