Greetings Farmshare members,
Welcome to the folks who have joined us this week for the "Heart of the Season". It truly is now the heart of the season, with most crops either ready to harvest or nearly ready.
My seasonal clock strikes a cord when it is time for garlic harvest. It always catches me by surprise because I incorrectly associate garlic as a late summer crop. But really it's the same every year. We bust our booties to get the garlic out of the field at the same time as the cucumbers and summer squash and carrots start really bumping. We upshift yet another gear.
These are some exciting few weeks ahead. It's the crux of the climb; super difficult but the momentum and the adrenaline rush is so powerful we are able to charge through. And then all of a sudden we poke our heads out and it is already mid August and we can take a breath.
Lots of delicious summer veggies on the list these next few weeks. Everyone shall be well fed!
