Hello Farmshare Members,
We have been enjoying some beautiful summer days, lots of dips in he river and loads of produce. But we are also noticing ripe blackberries on the roadside and it's getting a little darker in the early mornings- sure signs of the season shifting.
The production crew has been disking ground that was planted to early season crops that have come and gone. The Maine Field where we had June lettuce and July broccoli has been turned in and is ready and waiting for cover crop. Last week we brought in our storage onions. We let them dry down in the field for a bit and them bring them in to a shaded ventilated green house to cure. We grew Cortland yellow storage onions and Cabernet a red storage onion along with some big beautiful shallots called Matador. You'll start to see these in your boxes in the coming weeks. For now, we still have LOTS of summer veggies! In this week's share you could have cucumbers, summer squash, beans and cauliflower or broccoli to name a few.
Enjoy!
