The past two weeks we have received several shipments of baby chicks in the mail! Chicks absorb enough nutrients when they hatch that they can go several days very happily without food or water, which allows them to ship to us with no problem. First we received 200 broiler chickens. They spend the first three weeks in a warm brooder and then move out to pasture to spend the rest of their life before harvest time. Second we received 120 New Hampshire Red female chicks for egg production. They will spend the winter in one of our warm hoop house tunnels before moving out to pasture in the spring time to forage for grass and bugs! It has been a real blast getting the kids involved in helping with the chickens and we look forward to being able to offer more chicken and eggs in the near future! We have also worked hard to source a non-GMO feed (we found out our previous source was no longer gmo-free) to supplement their diet. You can check out the current feed company we are using. http://www.resacasun.com/

Baby Chicks on the Farm!

About the farm
Rora Valley Farms is located in beautiful rural Coosa County, Alabama and is owned and operated by the Sanders Family and was established in 2009. Currently my wife Dorothy and I (Noah) oversee the vegetable and bakery operations while my cousin Luke Sanders and his wife Kristin oversee the meat and egg production. Our kids help out as well! Here at Rora Valley Farms we strive to produce real food. Many industrial foods today put on a good show, but fail to provide our bodies with the nutrients we need to function properly. When God designed our bodies, He also designed amazing foods to fuel them. But most industrial foods have strayed from that original design, and we have reaped the consequences. Through building healthy, living soil and utilizing natural systems of production and management we strive to harvest food that feeds our bodies, as well as our taste buds.
