Earlier this fall we installed two new winter grow tunnels. It was an investment, but a worthwhile one! You can see in the picture all the kale, salad mix, lettuce heads, beets, turnips, radishes, arugula, bok choy, and more all in this one 14'x40' tunnel. If it were not for these tunnels we would not be having a delivery this week! This time of year the crops grow SO much faster in the tunnels. They are not heated by any supplemental power, but are totally warmed by the sun. In my opinion this is a really good use of petroleum; producing plastic to enable low-cost local production of produce year-round. Much more efficient than using fuel to ship produce across the country. We are so grateful to have all of you who are willing to support local growers like us even with all the ups and downs of production.
As of right now we are not planning on making a delivery next week, the week of Thanksgiving. We will plan on delivering the first week of January, however. Looking forward to seeing you then!
