Worker shares Leslie and David Trout helping with the Brussels sprouts harvest! (The stalks are too big to fit into the totes, so that is why you are receiving your 'stalk' in two pieces!)
This (last of the regular season) week's offerings: Nothing new with this last delivery. What we have are some root crops (potatoes and carrots), leeks, garlic, as well as more brussels sprouts, cauliflower, butternut, kohlrabi, hakurei turnips, and celery from the greenhouse (which is still a bit small, but may not get much bigger at this point in the season!) Nice to be able to offer some fresh greens as well (spinach or salad mix), though not quite enough for everyone. Head to the Extras section to get other fresh greens, including arugula, kale, parsley, collards, bok choi, and also sweet potatoes, maple syrup, and some favorite squashes.
Coming next week for the Thanksgiving Shares: For the 'Thanksgiving' share we will have many of the same items as we have this week, but we also will be including beets, cranberries, rutabagas or turnips, red cabbage, radishes, and again celery. A few different squashes will be available as well.
Other winter deliveries: Three weeks after the Thanksgiving share we offer the somewhat larger Storage Share, and you can still sign up for that (as well as the Thanksgiving share) up to a week before the delivery is scheduled. It should be possible to sign up for that through our website www.springdalefarm.com. Then approximately every 3 weeks after that we will make available mostly through home deliveries, of what we have stored up for the winter, along with a few fresh items from the greenhouse, along with some other items from other area farms, including both honey and maple syrup, including whole chickens from Avrom Farm, pork from Slo Food co-op in Green Bay and Golden Bear Farm, and also the Pine River Dairy butter that we have been helping to distribute for over a year now. Probably some citrus as well from our Florida connections. We will e-mail folks about those details closer to that time!
Signing up for next year's shares: We still have yet to work out and through any changes that we might make to our 2022 shares, though we will be doing that in the next couple weeks, so you will hear from us again soon. In the meantime, we are still trying to get everything harvested (potatoes, beets, and sweet potatoes are now all in; carrots and other items still in progress), as well as plant next year's garlic crop, and plant cover crops on our now bare ground! It's been great weather, for which we are so thankful and appreciative!
Organic frozen blueberries to be delivered along with your totes on Friday for those that ordered them. Keep on the lookout for them!
Bye for now!
