Cukes, Dill and Purple Cauliflower!

Posted on July 13th, 2024 by Ashley Thompson

We've got a refreshing box for you to get you through the never ending heatwave this week.  We've been hustling to bring all the food in before the heat of the day, and then trying to maintain hydration and mental capacity through the rest of the day.  It really is hot for this time of year (and after being so cold for so long).  It hasn't been the easiest year to grow food, so we're grateful that most things are still looking good regardless.

We're so excited to have purple cauliflower for you this time of year.  It's a beautiful treat that doesn't always produce well enough to get to our members this time of year and so we're thrilled to have it for you this week (and amazed, how is this possible given the crazy weather?).  Purple Cauliflower can be prepared just like white cauliflower, and our favorite way is to roast it or grill it.  We find it crisps even a little better than white cauli for us, which just makes us love it more.  And who can deny that beautiful color? The secret to perfect roasted cauliflower is to give it enough space in the pan.  Love and Lemons has a great method here.

We've also got dill and cukes for you this week, perfect for making tzatziki or a crisp salad.  I'm envisioning some great roasted veggie wraps with tzatziki and red butter lettuce this week.  Here's a great tzatziki recipe for you to try out if you're interested.

In addition, we've got the last of our overwintered Sweet Walla Walla Onions in boxes this week, as well as the first taste of shishitos available for full summer flavor!

Your farmers,

Ashley, Caleb and the Sungrounded Crew
