We've reached the second to last CSA share of the season. We loved seeing those of you who could make it to Fill Your Pantry last Saturday. It was a great last market with so much local food heading out to our community. That said, we still have some left, so if you missed it we have a couple opportunities to stock your pantry and fridge as CSA season comes to an end.
This week we are offering 2lb bags of watermelon radishes to add to your share. We love these mild radishes for brightening up winter salads and stir fries, and they'll keep in their bag in the fridge for 3-4 months!
Next week we'll have 5lb bags of carrots to grab if you want, as well as 10lb bags of German Butterball Potatoes. Carrots also keep in the fridge for 3-4 months. Potatoes prefer to be stored at about 38-45 degrees if possible in paper or cardboard, in the dark so they don't sprout. They should keep in a cool-ish closet for 1-2 months and will keep 3-4 months if you have a colder environment for them like an extra fridge, or an attached garage or storage unit that doesn't drop below freezing, just make sure they're stored in something rodent proof!
This week we've got a last run of beautiful Amarosa Fingerling potatoes for you and also our last Leeks, which I think would be both beautiful and delicious in this Potato Leek Galette.
We've also got the last of our Chioggia Beets in shares, perfect for a beautiful Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Salad. (These beets will also keep in a bag in your fridge for 3-4 months).
In addition we have a few more shallots for you (these store 5-6 months in a cool closet or pantry (seriously! I still have some that are good from LAST YEAR.) and Garlic, as well as Kale, Arugula and Mesclun for your weekly greens.
Happy cooking!
