We've begun digging out from under Helene's mess, but the farm is still here and we were relatively spared. We still don't have power or internet, but we've been running our cooler with a generator and are expecting a larger generator to come today which will run the whole pack shed and greenhouses so the existing generator can be moved to run the well pump and we can pretend all is normal! All the people and structures are fine and most of the produce (say goodbye to some of the summer things that were closer to the creek and got flooded, but we're expecting to be back in business by tomorrow! Any damage we sustained pales in comparison to our friends further west of here. Our farmer friends at Bluebird Farm in Morganton were in the devastation zone and are facing a 95% crop loss for the fall and a loss of their living and their employee's livings. They have started a gofundme if you are inspired and can help: https://gofund.me/ae5e126fhttps://www.gofundme.com/f/rebuild-bluebird-farm-after-hurricane-helenes-impact
Thanks everyone for their support and understanding as we missed Saturday markets and harvest shares for the first time in our 18 season history. We are lucky to have the capacity to still feed people after this unprecedented storm and subsequent floods. These difficult times are when our community shines the brightest.
