I don't know what to say y'all, except thanks for your outpouring of support and concern. Our farm was relatively unscathed. It felt very dramatic while it was happening as it was the worst flooding we've seen, but it left structures in tact and most of the fields and didn't get high enough to reach the fall crops, and it receded. We were left without power (we had a generator running a cooler) and water and cell service/internet so we had no idea the devastation happening west of us. So now we look at our farm and feel like we were a bit on the overdramatic side. We have survivor's guilt. We've had power and water and at least intermittent cell and internet services restored, and we see a clear path to cleaning up what is basically only a mess, not destruction. We are picking up where we left off with farming with broken hearts for our neighbors to the west and southwest. For beautiful Appalachia and those river communities that welcomed us so many times. What can we do but carry on? And so we do with heavy heavy hearts. Be kind to each other y'all.
