Happy Halloween!
Halloween is my favorite "holiday". It is the one time of year where more people "embrace the silly" than any other time of year. Where strangers knock on each others door and instead of calling the police, we welcome them and give them gifts. I just love the whole concept. And, of course, I love costumes. This year, however, there was so much going on, I didn't manage to pull off a costume of my own. I was feeling a bit bad about it even while I was telling myself it was okay to "skip" Halloween one year, but my heart exploded with joy when I arrived at work to find my crew-my farmily-came through this year. They showed up to work in full Halloween regalia. It absolutely made my day. I no longer feel like I skipped Halloween.
I'm going to give those carrots just one more week (of this warm weather) to size up a bit more. Same with the spinach (which is looking awesome, finally!), so look for those things in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, we have potatoes from Mountain Roots Farm this week. They were on higher ground and so weren't in the flood, it's jut an adventure getting to them to dig since the bridge that went over the river to the side the potatoes are is, of course, gone. Washed away by Helene like so many roads and bridges.
Enjoy your harvest (and your "holiday")
