We met with the Granger City Council last Wednesday and are happy to report that the meeting could not have gone any better! The City Council seemed very supportive of the farm and wanting to help correct the issues the farm is facing. They appeared to want to meet with the NRCS agent to help create a plan that would both ease the flooding issues at the farm and also help prevent future issues. I was cautiously optimistic going into the meeting but left with a big ole smile on my face!
As you all have probably noticed, the summer crops are starting to appear! Some crops (namely tomatoes, peppers and eggplant) have had their share of hard knocks and we are cautiously optimistic they will pull through and produce for us this season. We are really excited for our famous Blacktail Mountain Watermelons to start making an appearance in shares next week!
The last couple weeks have been extremely hot so the crew has been going home early. Needless to say it's been challenging getting all the work done we need to but everyone has been working quite hard while here and surprisingly we are getting most of it done on time. Our big job this week is to try and get the garlic crop in. We are over half done already and looking forward to a barn full of curing garlic!
