A bit warm

Posted on June 20th, 2024 by Shelli and Paul Meulemans

Wow! It’s been a hot week!

Things are cranking here on the farm though, with summer crops looking fantastic, and cool weather crops beginning to show signs of stress. It’s expected though, and we will do our best to keep the greens flowing all summer long. I hope that you all have been enjoying great salads, and we will try and keep you salad bowls full all summer long! I will say that the wet spring gave us some challenges, with pea seeds rotting in the soil and poor germ on the earliest of the sweet corn, followed with too much moisture so the first corn is weedy, but it should be enough to wet our appetite for the more substantial corn patches following close behind. Also, the potato, onion and garlic crops are looking good again this year, so keep your eyes out for those products in the coming weeks. Anyhow, as you can tell we have quite a few different tasks to juggle but I hope you all are enjoying the bounty! I can always beat myself up over the failed spring broccoli and cauliflower crops, but alas we can’t control everything, we have produce and allot to be thankful for! Thanks for supporting us! By the way, fall broccoli and cauliflower is better anyway.
