Farmer Reuben sent the crew out to the fields today to pick the greens so they'll be fresh for your farm shares. Even fresher since they were picked in the rain. Monday was quite warm but Tuesday cooled off so much that as the crew got wet they were coming back for sweaters and jackets. The Napa/chinese cabbage, bok choi, and kale love the rain. It's much easier to get them into the cooler in good condition without having to worry about them wilting in the sun.

Farmer Reuben wants you to enjoy more variety of spring vegetables and herbs just before summer officially begins: beets, peas, broccoli, parsley and chocolate mint are in shares this week.
You'll notice that some high value vegetables are available as EXTRAS this week. This is a great week to get extra veggies to make something special: ferment your kohlrabi, make kimchi, freeze greens, pickle beets, etc.
Farmer Reuben says that summer squash will be ready soon as well. That means we are starting to pick vegetables that keep producing from the same plants day after day.
Strawberry season is almost over but you can keep enjoying it when you add our homemade, organic Strawberry Preserves to your delivery this week. Order from extras every week to get more local farm food delivered to you.
