There is so much going on at the farm. Starting tomorrow, I hope to be field prepping and cover cropping until the rain comes on Wednesday night. I checked the fields on Friday, and many of the places I want to plant seemed only two days away from being dry, so I hope I predicted well. Tomorrow we are harvesting all the salad, baby kale, and green garlic from one of our big greenhouses to prep for planting tomatoes. So we have many green things to put in your boxes.
The garlic greens are pretty stubby because I planted them later than I should have, but they have to come out. Still very flavorful, just short.
Prairie Fruits Farm is getting us the first chèvre of the season, rich and creamy. The kidding season is has started and they are in the thick of it!
In other news, this is a reminder that spots are dwindling in the summer CSA. If you are planning to get a summer share, do it now. We don’t want anyone to be unhappily surprised in May when we are sold up, so please sign up www.harvie.farm/signup/blue-moon-farm.
In even more news, this week we start seeding for our PLANT SALE. We’ll be offering tomato, pepper, parsley, basil, dill, kale, chard, and collard starts. Those start rolling in around the first of May. We’ll be sending out a complete variety list soon.
We hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather as much as we are.
