We planted lettuce on Friday. We planted onions, scallions, cabbage, broccoli, and kohlrabi on Sunday. Today we’ll get to kale, collards, chard, and parsley. Then we’ll start on the potatoes and cover crops. It all has to get done before Wednesday’s rain, but we’re in pretty good shape for the beginning of April.
Napini is on hold for now. We’ve been getting it from the collards and green kale, which have slowed down production lately. When the White Russian kale starts to send out napini, usually around mid-April, it will be more abundant.
If you didn’t get your napini last time, we’ll put it in your box get this time.
This week Prairie Fruits is offering a special chèvre flavor: chives and lemon zest. I tried it just on crackers and loved the brightness! Also mixed milk feta is back. They have a creamy river of goat milk these days so be sure to sample the spring flavor.
We hope you all are getting outside and eating well.
See you on Saturday!
