We are in Full Fall Flip mode at Blue Moon. We are tearing out tomato and pepper plants from greenhouses and prepping for winter crops. In the houses where we are planting salad mix and brassicas, we are doing an extra step of steaming with our new soil steamer purchased last year. Thanks to Frontera Foundation for a grant to partially fund that purchase! When we soil steam, we cover our beds in a heavy tarp, and stick a hose under the tarp to pump steam in from the boiler. This process kills the weed seeds and diseases in the top two inches of soil.
You should start seeing more fall crops mixing with our summer fruits as we head towards the equinox. Enjoy those tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants while you can!
