Opening Week for our CSA!!!

Posted on May 23rd, 2019 by Lorien Carsey

Hey everyone,

We are excited to be kicking off our season with you all. We have been meticulously planning our deliveries so we are prepared for the harvest, pack out and delivery next week. It's not as easy as it may sound. We have to coordinate with our add-on share farmers, ensure packing over 100 boxes is easy for our employees and that we harvest everything that we need. It takes a larger view to ensure we are getting all the details figured out.

A little bit of information regarding your CSA pick ups:

Ensure you have updated your preferences of our vegetables within Harvie.

Please bring your own bags to transfer your shares from our crates into. We are going to try and minimize the amount of plastic bags we use so having your own bag will help you get to your vehicle!

Add on Shares: If you got a share of meat, eggs, mushrooms, flowers or cheese, your shares will be on a separate table so please pick those up.

Vacations: I have a few people reach out and tell me that they are going on vacation. You actually can do that on your Harvie dashboard. You have the option to reschedule your share to another week. Here is the information on how to do that:

  1. Log into your Harvie account at www.harvie.farm/login
  2. Click My Deliveries
  3. Click Change Date next to the delivery you wish to adjust.
  4. Click the Date Box and choose the new date to reschedule.
  5. Click "Save new date" button to complete

We are in the midst of keeping up with all the weeds on the farm right now. The rain has certainly germinated a plethora of weeds all over the farm and we have to keep up with the most aggressive weeds so we aren't in letting them go to seed and increase our future weed seed bank in our soil. When it is dry, we have a person or two cultivating on tractors and several more of our crew out with hoes to catch all the stray weeds. In between that, we are harvesting, planting seeds in our greenhouse and in the fields, getting our cover crops in our empty fields, and planting our greenhouses with summer crops.
