Kohlrabi is back! I really enjoyed harvesting those for y'all this week! They have a wonderful color and I can't wait to cook some in my home kitchen later this week! I thinned all of our trays in the propagation tunnel, and kept all of the extra microgreens to make a fun mix for y'all this week. It has some really delicious micros like purple broccoli, napa cabbage, collard greens, mustard greens, bok choy, kale, plus our two main shoots. Eggs are back as well! A big thank you to 3 Board Farm for providing some of the best eggs in north LA!
Farm Update
Good temperatures early this week allowed us to plant a lot of early Spring crops. We had a big planting of carrots, as well as, lettuce, turnips, and salad greens. We transplanted our first crops of 2023 this week-- rows and rows of snap peas, and several rows of lettuce! Next week we have a really big planting of many varieties of bok choy and Asian greens for salads. Then the first week in February will be our first BIG succession of broccoli, cabbage, kale, mustards, lettuce, onions, and so much more.
Gearing up for the Spring season can sometimes seem daunting. There is never enough time, and always an endless list of things to do. But I'm really excited about the way things are shaping up around the farm. I'm getting a lot more comfortable using our new equipment, and I know that we have the tools we need to survive whatever crazy weather event arrives next. I really appreciate y'all supporting us during this season. Knowing exactly what needs to be harvested every week, really makes our work so much easier. It's critical for us, especially this time of the year, to focus Monday-Wednesday on spending time in the fields. I hope that you cook something delicious this week!
