Farm Stand Members,
I apologize that we have not had enough produce to offer the farm stand each week. The Arctic Blast last December destroyed a number of crops we should have been harvesting since mid-January. After fulfilling orders for the Winter farm shares and restaurants, we haven't had enough to even take to the farmers market.
However, Spring is right around the corner. Each day the daylight is longer and temperatures warmer, so crops are germinating well and regrowing quickly. For the rest of this season, we should be able to offer vegetables each week on the farm stand.
We recently added a delicious microgreen mix, with kale, arugula, red radish, sunflower and pea shoots. Our salad and shoots mix contains a wonderful variety of leafy greens, and this week we added some tasty baby kale and ruby streaks mustard greens to the mesclun mix. Don't forget--radishes taste best this time of year! There are some beautiful rainbow radish bunches available. We will also have extra free-range eggs from other local farms, plus several of our jams, including our new smash-hit Mayhaw Syrup!
This Winter has been challenging, but we have learned so much. We started planting for our Spring farm shares on January 15, our earliest start date ever! The Spring farm share season sign up link will be live in a few weeks. I hope that you will join us, because it's going to be one of the best farm share seasons we have ever had! I'm really excited about early squash and green beans, plus we have several new vegetables in the crop plan that we have never grown before!
