It’s been a HOT week on the farm! With little rain in the forecast the irrigation team has been working day and night for a few weeks trying to keep the crops irrigated and happy. Our summer crops love this hot weather and this week brought our first big tomato harvest with over 800 pounds harvested. With the team down 3 crew members this week we had to work extra hard to stay on top on weeds and transplanting. Believe it or not we planted the last succession of fall brassicas this week. In just a few weeks we will be wrapping up outdoor plantings and moving into the greenhouses.
As we move through August, we are already starting to say goodbye to our student worker crew. With classes starting in just a few weeks they are beginning to make the transition back to student life. We appreciate all of their hard work and they will be greatly missed. Thanks, crew!
