As we transition into September we said goodbye to our full time summer student crew as they head back to campus to start classes. We appreciate all of their hard work and the their presence was missed this week. This shift marks an important transition on the farm from summer to fall. All of our fields are planted and we will begin filling our greenhouses with crops for our CSA extension. By the end of September all of our greenhouses will be full and planting will officially end on the farm for the 2021 season.
In other news on the farm, we received approximately 6 inches of rain on Wednesday which caused some erosion and damage in the fields. Most notably, we had a some of our tomato trellising completely snap and fall over and the same with our sweet corn. All in all the farm survived and the irrigation team got a nice break.
