Farm Happenings for July 18, 2023

Posted on July 14th, 2023 by Alex Smith

Hello Members,

Welcome to week 9 of the CSA. It feels like summer is whizzing by. We are deep in the rhythm of plant, harvest, pull weeds, repeat. With the big rains of last weekend and the rain coming this weekend, we have been busy clearing away a healthy flush of weeds and getting plants in the rain before the rain. Coupled with all of the harvesting going on that has kept us quite busy!

A couple of new additions to the CSA:  Cucumbers (Finally!) and Celery. We have lots of celery so we are starting to harvest is pretty young. It's not like the blanched, tasteless stuff you'll find in the store. Our celery is deep green, and full of flavor and nutrients. Great for a farm fresh mirepoix.

I’d also like to highlight our meat products. Our beef, lamb, and laying hens are all Animal Welfare Approved and grassfed. We never use growth hormones or subtherapeutic antibiotics. We work hard to make sure our animals are always happy and healthy, and that they are fed in the most nutritious manner possible. I believe that this yields superior products in texture, flavor, and nutrition. Nothing hits the spot after a day of farmin' like a juicy thick cut steak or burgers hot off the grill with a side of farm slaw.

Enjoy your produce!
