Hello CSA Members,
I hope everyone had a great holiday. Our farm crew celebrated on the afternoon of the Fourth with a potluck in the barnyard. Good tunes, good food, football, soccer, frisbee, and tug-o-war. It was a hoot.
This week, I’d like to highlight our meat products. Our beef, lamb, and laying hens are all Animal Welfare Approved and grassfed. We never use growth hormones or subtherapeutic antibiotics. We work hard to make sure our animals are always happy and healthy, and that they are fed in the most nutritious manner possible. I believe that this yields superior products in texture, flavor, and nutrition.
My family and I start our day off with DCF eggs every morning and during the summer we usually grill some beef one or two nights a week. Nothing hits the spot after a day of farmin like a juicy burger hot off the grill or a thick cut steak cooked “low and slow”. Both pair nicely with a fresh farm slaw of shredded cabbage, kohlrabi, carrots, beets, fennel, etc.
Happy eating,
Alex
