Farm Happenings for November 22, 2024

Posted on November 18th, 2024 by Alex Smith

Happy Monday,

As harvest season continues to wind down, one of the many important farm projects we undertake is machine maintenance. Taking good care of our important equipment is crucial to the efficient flow of the farm. Throughout the season, students and apprentices lubricate the many moving parts of our tractors and other machines. In the fall we change fluids, change filters, perform inspections, and whatever else each machine needs to function optimally. I started with the smallest tractor this morning as a warm up. Over the next couple weeks I will work through all of them in our new shop.

Todays feature crop is brussels sprouts. I'm not sure what happened in the decades since I was a kid, but they have sure have gotten tasty. Even my picky 4 year old likes them. I've always sheet roasted them but this year I've been using a stainless fry pan for faster and more controlled cooking. Salt, pepper, and coconut oil is all I need!

Have a great week,

Alex
