Farm Happenings for November 19, 2024

Posted on November 15th, 2024 by Alex Smith

Happy Friday all,

This morning, most of the team and I huddled around my computer in the office to work on the crop plan for next year. We had several reports to assist including past planting records, your preferences in Harvie, sales records from our other outlets, and notes we collected throughout the year. We went through each and every planting (83 different crops over 349 plantings) to discuss what worked, what didn't work, and how we want to improve. Needless to say, it was a long meeting but it one of the most important meetings for the success of the farm. Over the next few weeks, I will distill the notes of the meeting into tentative crop plan for 2025. I'll also have to research crops, varieties, and collect some other data. Most importantly, at the conclusion of the year, we will request your feedback! Once all that is done, I will have a master crop plan and I can begin to purchase seed for next year.

But, back here in 2024, we are still cruising with fall crops. Broccoli, brussels spouts, cabbage, and cauliflower are still doing great. We also washed, and sorted the last of the seasons carrots yesterday.

Have a great weekend!

Alex

Please note that not all produce in your share has been washed, including leafy greens. We recommend you wash all produce prior to eating.
