Not really domestic livestock

Hello!

The above picture, of Evelyns' cat Misti Pokey, has nothing to do with agriculture.  She barely even catches mice.  But we see her every day, both in the house at 5 A. M. when she thinks its time for breakfast, and outdoors, where there are lots of little things for a kitten to explore.  We also have a cat living in our barn whom we call Tabitha (she or he is a tabby) and various other feral cats we catch glimpses of from time to time.  And we have a groupof deer visit so frequently that out neighbor has names for each one.

And now I'd like to say a few words about broccolini, which is just starting to come in.

The flavor is similar to "regular" broccoli, but there is more stem.  However, it is also quite a bit tenderer than conventional broccoli, so all the stem (and the leaves) are edible-- delicious even-- without being peeled.

We are also starting to harvest some salad turnips, which you may remember from the spring.

they taste even better in the fall.  Unfortunately it will be kind of a short crop, due to me putting the #10 sprocket in the rear of the seeder, and the #14 in the front, rather than the other way around.  Its amazing how many things there are that can go wrong!
