There are many things I should have done differently in growing these brussels sprouts (pictured above)-- to wit, I should have fertilized them adequately. And given them enough water, not to mention weeded them more than the single desultory hoeing they received. Probably it would have been a good idea to do something to discourage the flea beetles back in June and July, and I definitely should have "topped" them at the right time to encourage sprout production. But I didn't do any of those things, and now its too late, and the sprouts are annoyingly small. Don't say I didn't warn you. At least they taste good. Happy Thanksgiving!

About the farm
Jade Family Farm is a certified organic farm at the foot of the Tuscarora
Mountain in Juniata county, Pennsylvania. We grow a wide range of vegetables and
fruitson about 10 acres, with the balance of the 120 acre farm in pasture, hayfields, ad
woodlands. We sell our produce chiefly through a Community supported Agriculture
program serving the State College and Harrisburg areas, as well as several area farmers'
markets. We are a rue family farm, with three generations and several branches of the
family directly involved in day to day operations.
