It is bittersweet to finish up our Spring/Summer CSA. I'm sure it wont be long before we are missing all those tomatoes on our counter and fresh cucumber salad. However, cooler weather and Fall crops like broccoli are sounding pretty good!
Looking back we spend many hours planning, seed ordering, preparing beds, seed starting. The prepared beds are weed free and full of promise. We then plant the little baby seedling or direct seed and nurture them much like we do our children. The harvest is always one of my favorite parts of the journey, but it all brings us joy (except weeding Haha). Of course everyday is not enjoyable especially when bugs have devoured your plants or its a usual steaming hot summer day with mosquitoes and no see-ums biting your sunburned skin! Loving what you do and sharing the harvest with others is what out weights those times.
In Alabama we get the opportunity to grow many of the veggies we grew in the spring again in the Fall. Broccoli, cauliflower, arugula, turnips, and lettuce to name a few. We are already in planning stage and after a quick trip to Vermont to visit family we will come back and hit the ground running.
Soon you will receive more details on our Fall CSA session and you will auto renew unless you chose to opt out. Please take a minute and see that your preference is set on Harvie. We have many on the waiting list and it would be helpful to know how many opening we will have available. We will also be opening up a few more shares for Fall, so if you know anyone interested they can sign up for Farm Stand now and get information when it becomes available.
Thank you for buying local and supporting our small farm!
