Well, we made it through the first round of snow and cold weather. I hope your trees, gardens and spirit made it through as well.
To be honest, we worked so hard the five days leading up to the snow storm harvesting, preparing and prepping, that the storm felt like a little bit of a let down. Oh 2020, how you have hardened me. Despite our best efforts, we were not able to get all of the food out of the fields so I'm grateful that the storm was mild. Amazingly, our peppers and eggplants mostly survived. All of the fall crops like cabbages, arugula, broccoli, kale and turnips came through with nary a scratch or blemish. These fall crops tend to do a little better with the light touch of cool weather.
This week I am excited to start adding our winter squash into your shares. This week you will see Delicata winter squash available for your shares. As the name implies, this is the most delicate and short storage of the winter squashes. The Delicata squash has thin skin that is totally edible when roasted. Enjoy.
Fruit Share - This week we will have Gala Apples and Bartlett Pears for your share.
Fresh Milled Flour - We have fresh milled Turkey Red Flour ready for your fall baking inspiration.
Enjoy the warm weather over the next few weeks. We will keep the farm growing for you.
