I think we are entering such a wonderful time of year. You can really feel the change in the season with hot days, cool mornings, and a noticeably faster setting sun. Equinox is right around the corner and with it will be more fall crops going in as we say goodbye to summer crops we have been feasting on as of late. Gratefully, the really cold weather has held off so we can finish ripening our red bell peppers and sweet Italian peppers. Next week we will also be adding flavors of fall into the shares with some cabbage and fall radishes including the especially spicy Nero Tondo and a more mild Watermelon radish. Soon your shares will be filling with winter squashes, cauliflowers, cabbages and broccoli, of course if the weather helps and not hinders.

This week we were thrilled to welcome the Eco-Cycle compost tours. We had nearly thirty third graders and their minders come to the farm to deepen their learning around compost. They were also able to see, smell, touch and taste as they learned. The carrots, Tuscan cantaloupes and Arava melons were a huge hit. It is always so much fun touring the kids around and answering their most amazing questions.

We are entering the home stretch of the CSA. The Fruit Shares end the week of September 29th and the last week of the CSA is October 13th.  If you have a shares that are on vacation hold now is the time to get them scheduled.

With deepest gratitude,

Michael and the Farmers at Kilt Farm

Thank you so much for being a member of the farm. We can't do it with out you.
