I love fall. The beautiful colors. The comfort foods. The sweaters and wool socks. I was in New York City (well, actually Long Island, but it's all NYC to this small-town girl) for a few days this week, and I was amazed by the color change that happened so quickly across I-80 when we returned home.
I will be away both Wednesday and Thursday of this week's deliveries. If there are errors in your share, please let me know so we can make it right.
Share customization ends at 3 PM Sunday again, and I will be finalizing shares on Sunday so I can print the packing lists before I leave town. That means that if your share is charged to a debit card then you should make sure there are funds in that account a couple of days early.
This week's features:
- Sweet corn will soon come to an end, so if you love it this may be your last chance.
- Bibb lettuce from Harmony Grove Farm is back this week, as well as four different lettuce mixes from Glacial Till Farm and Spur Hollow Farm.
- Lots of various greens including spinach, mizuna, chard, pac choi, arugula, kale, and more.
Farm News
Spur Hollow Farm: Lots of yellow Onions this season! The greenhouse is cleaned up and we are planting winter greens in it today! We used the high tunnel to cure some of these onions, and they are cured and ready to store.
Check out this great tip for cooking spaghetti squash that isn't watery. Slice the squash into rings and roast in the oven. You end up with single-serving slices of perfectly-cooked squash.
And here's a recipe for Easy Roasted Acorn Squash. While I love complicated recipes, sometimes you just need something simple to add to the meal. This is one of those recipes.
Again, if you email me in the coming week, it might take me a little longer to reply. I will be totally offline all day Wednesday. Have a great week!
