Well, we right in the swing of July!
Our days our focused on harvesting, washing and packing your CSA shares. In between that, we are planting autumn crops (more cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, leek, frisee + carrots, radicchio, fennel and more!) and weeding!
This week we've got lots of peas, both snow and sugar snaps, cauliflower and beets. Basil is here! Including Italian, Thai, lemon and Tulsi varieties.
Have you noticed that our cauliflower looks a bit different? It's a different type than is available in the grocery store. We grow a 'green stem' variety called Song. This type is sweeter and more tender than standard white-stemmed varieties. It also has longer stems that are exceptional for dipping. Kitchen prep work is quick, as a few knife strokes will cut most of the florets from the heads. Hope you like it!
And news from the tomato front -- the plants are very big and have quite a lot of fruit already! Here's hoping for the first cherry and grape tomatoes in July!
