Farm Happenings for August 10, 2021

Posted on August 4th, 2021 by Anna Bunk
Hello farmshare folk!
The weather has turned here a little, with foggy cool mornings giving a nice relief from the dry summer sun. All the garlic is out of the field, protected from the wet dewy mornings. By the way, the garlic in your shares is fresh garlic, meaning it is not yet cured like the garlic you would find at the grocery store or the garlic we would have available in the fall. The fresh garlic does not last as long and thus should be kept in the refrigerator where it can last months. If you leave it out on the counter, that's fine (that's what we do) but it must be used up quickly!
For those of you getting dragon tongue beans in your share, if these are new to you, please enjoy them as you would green beans or snap beans (eat the pod and all). These beauties are worth painting, if you're looking for a still-life prop.
Thanks for letting us share our produce with you! Have a good week of delicious veggies,
Anna
