This is what one looks like after harvesting garlic for four hours in the rain. This is Danielle. She loves picking peppers and making blueberry pie, but is just ok at crossword puzzles. She loves lying in hammocks, wearing two pairs of overalls at once, and pronouncing French words correctly. A farm can’t work without the the enormously hard work of people like her. She begins her day at 5am assembling the harvest list, and ends her day (after a few hours of dinner, play, and rest with her family) at 9pm printing CSA labels and sending emails. Her diligence and investment in the work keep these trains running on time.

Root 5 Farm is a certified organic vegetable farm located on 38 acres in Fairlee, Vermont, along the Connecticut River. The fertile river bottom soils provide a rich environment for growing over 100 different varieties of vegetables and herbs.
