Just like that, mornings are misty, nights are cool, fields are being put to bed for the season with cover crops, winter squash harvest is approaching, and we're soaking summer in as fully as we can. We relish each morning we can step outside barefoot without extra layers and go swimming in the river after work. We savor each juicy watermelon and tomato, sweet sweet peppers, and cool cucumbers. We're doing our best to preserve the harvest, stocking our freezer and cupboards for winter. Now is the time! We have bulk 2nds tomatoes and peppers available to purchase as extras this week, great for making sauce or slicing up and freezing. Root 5 Farm is a certified organic vegetable farm located on 38 acres in Fairlee, Vermont, along the Connecticut River. The fertile river bottom soils provide a rich environment for growing over 100 different varieties of vegetables and herbs.
