We're about halfway between the fall equinox and winter solstice. This marks the end of harvest season and the beginning of winter, or the "dark half" of the year. The ancient Celts celebrated this time with a great festival called Samhain as this marked the beginning of the Celtic new year. This was the time to take stock of the herds and food supplies.
We spent last week harvesting the last of our carrots, cabbages, lettuce, arugula, and kale from the field before the deep freeze. We've taken inventory of all of our storage crops, and we've begun Winter Shares this week. We've got so much good food planned for your CSA boxes over the next eight weeks. We're so happy you've joined us for the winter!
