Gentle rains, warm sunshine, an amazing hard working crew, a genuinely helpful 5-year old, twelve foot tall cucumber vines in June. What more can we ask for??? These are the long, sunny days of our dreams.
It's been an incredibly productive week at the farm, the crops are really looking great, it finally feels like we're catching up with weeding and cultivating, and our harvest was abundant for the first week of Summer CSA Shares. We are grateful!
But of course it's not all unicorns and rainbows around here. We've had our share of challenges and disappointments this week too. We just discovered that the woodchucks, deer, and slugs are chomping freely on our kale, lettuce, and cabbage patches. Alas, we set up the deer fence and the woodchuck traps, and we farm on.
