September is coming to an end, which means we're gearing up for our version of Oktoberfest! We've been eagerly watching our kraut cabbages size up (they grow to be about 10lbs each!) and soon our certified kitchen space will be transformed into our annual kraut-making shred fest. Before we start, we need your help to empty out a few more kraut barrels to make space for the new crop, so we're featuring our line of Root 5 Farm Power Krauts in your boxes this week.
Kraut makes the perfect addition to so many fall meals. Pair with your favorite lager, top bratwurst and potatoes and enjoy! Or perhaps you'd like to order up some pie pumpkins to make this vegetarian schnitzel along with your jar of sauerkraut!
Make sure to keep Power Kraut in the fridge, it will last for several months if you don't eat it right away. And we recommend eating our sauerkraut raw, as you'll lose the health benefits of this live, fermented food if it's heated or rinsed. You may notice your jar bubbles, fizzes, or juices over when you open it. Don't be afraid, this is normal and it's safe to eat!
