We hope you've enjoyed your first box of vegetables! It was a real pleasure to get back into the swing of harvesting and packing shares this week. Let us know how it's going. Have you tried a new recipe or tasted something new? We'd love to hear about it!
Late May is such a beautiful time on the farm, when everything is so green and our rows of vegetables are so neat and tidy.
This is week we've been focused on planting the rest of our tomatoes and peppers in our hoop houses, and planting the first of our broccoli, parsley, and summer squash in the fields. We seed weekly successions of arugula, lettuce mix, scallions, radishes, salad turnips, and herbs to keep a consistent supply throughout the season.
We're eager for the asparagus to start popping up. This year it's a little later than usual because we put a thick mulch over the whole asparagus patch last fall to keep down the weeds. Now we have to wait patently for the soil to warm up under the mulch. We're hopeful for next week!
