Young Ginger
Most of us know ginger as a thick-skinned, fibrous and spicy root that's imported from far away places. This fresh "young" ginger that we grow is juicy and plump, with a pink blush. Teamwork makes the dream work
Our crew works seamlessly together as we clip each winter squash off the vine, buff off the dirt, and windrow them into piles for pick up. Heavy Harvest Time
We're harvesting every day now, bringing in big bins of winter squash, carrots, beets, radishes, and turnips. Later this week we'll start sweet potatoes. We wash and store everything carefully so we can continue to eat good good food through the cold months of November, December, and January. read more »
Shoulder Season
It's a beautiful, fleeting moment while we still have abundant tomatoes, sweet peppers, and watermelons, but the winter squash and root vegetables are starting to come in strong too. Still summer, not yet fall, so lovely. read more »
Cover crops
When we finish harvesting vegetables from a bed, we plant cover crops of oats and peas, rye and vetch, or clover. This holds nutrients in place and builds organic matter in the soil for future healthy crops. read more »
